This course covers everything you need to know before applying to medical school and helps you to develop the key traits needed for a successful career in medicine.

• You will learn about the 4 pillars of ethics and how to apply them to ethical dilemmas in the medical industry.
• You will receive training in information-gathering to allow a thorough patient history to be taken without interrogation.
• The course includes discussions on how to; overcome barriers to communication, break bad news to patients and their families and describe medical conditions in layman’s terms.

All of these topics offer valuable insight into issues that will be raised during medical school and will provide background information for medical school interviews. At the end of the week you will have the opportunity to use all your newly learnt skills in mock interviews and receive personal feedback on how to improve.

Dr’s experienced in working at the forefront of the NHS also give their experience of medical school, offering advice on how to keep on top of the workload and look after your mental health.

Prerequisites 

Students attending this course are expected to be studying a minimum of A-level biology, however we have a range of students from A-Level to graduate scientists attend.
